On a recent drive on the 160 Highway just a few miles from Branson, we came across a jewel in the Ozarks!  Hickory Ridge Estates.

There are 100 foot Trees Lining the entry road for about a quarter mile.

The views are found on almost every turn in the highway, and it appears by the new homes being built, that people are excited about what they have found.  We came across several homes that took our breath away, as they are stunningly creative and beautiful!  Later we found out that these homes were featured in the 417 Magazine.

If you are visiting Branson, you need to take a drive out to this new community!

Housing forecast discussed

A housing researcher shared his findings last week regarding the Tri-Lakes Area housing market situation.

Joe Zanola, the president of Zanola Co., a St. Louis-based real estate research company, presented findings from a tri-annual housing and market review of southwest Missouri. Highlights of the report indicate that the population growth supports a diverse range in new home products and the area has a good job growth.

“I’ve got good news today,” Zanola said.

According to his findings, unlike other Missouri markets, southwest Missouri hasn’t had to focus as much on the challenges of an oversupplied housing market, however, there are areas that need to be addressed.

“We are going to have to look at our spec-home market more carefully,” said Realtor and President of the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors Kathy Clark, who was in attendance Thursday at the Branson City Hall meeting.

Zanola said the Taney and Stone counties area has a low supply of homes of less than $175,000 in value. He also said the area has an over-abundance of lots.

Not only were Realtors in attendance, but also many developers, Clark pointed out.

“I saw them understanding and seeing what is going on,” she said.

“As Realtors, we know people need places to live. We know the market under $175,000 is not there, although we are seeing more and more coming on the horizon.”

Clark said while there are many positive things about the Tri-Lakes Area housing market, there are some issues.

“I think the greatest thing is, we are a very good market here. We do have the employment that we need,” she said.

Special activities highlighting the amenities the club has to offer including tennis exhibitions, fitness and wellness presentations, mini course putting contests with prizes will also be conducted throughout the afternoon. Beginning at 5:00 pm Branson Ridge Winery will be hosting a wine and cheese tasting preview and to top off the evening attendees will enjoy a live concert by Take it to the Limit, the Eagles Tribute Band starting at 7:00 pm.

Golf course architect, Chuck Smith and course collaborator, PGA commentator and golf professional, Bobby Clampett designed the Payne Stewart Golf Course and have made it a superb golfing experience for players of all levels.

The course meanders through lush, mature trees while passing by several lakes that come into play on multiple holes, and experiences significant elevation changes as it plays through the hills and valleys of the southwestern Missouri countryside. The topographic challenges encountered during the design of the course gave way to the esthetically pleasing beauty of the dogwoods and redbuds that dot the landscape. The course is a work of art and deserving of the Payne Stewart name, according to Bobby Clampett, course collaborator and PGA Professional.

“Mr. Smith and Mr. Clampett have designed an outstanding golf course, the owners are providing first class amenities and the Hilton staff will provide a level of service equal to other nationally recognized high-end private golf facilities,” stated Director of Golf, T.J. Baggett.

In addition to the top-quality course, the club offers a practice area including a driving range (opening in 2010), and recreational amenities such as tennis and swimming. The clubhouse features a full-service golf shop, fully appointed men’s and women’s locker rooms, lounge, restaurant, exercise facilities and meeting rooms. The clubhouse and surrounding facilities are built with Old English style and modern technology, taking into account the charm, culture and architectural subtleties of the natural landscape.

AirTran changes flights at Branson Airport to meet demand

by Gary on June 3, 2009

HOLLISTER, Mo. — Branson Airport is wrapping up its third week of service. Airport officials say business is going really well. The airport is busy but officials are tweaking some destinations heading into the summer travel months. Some travelers on Friday made a special trip to see one of the Branson area’s newest attractions.

“We were sight seeing, and my sister came here from Springfield, we said you have to see the Branson Airport,” said Gloria Argue.

Ticket sales are comparable to one of the biggest shows on the strip.

“It’s been great,” said Gene Conrad, Deputy Director of Marketing for Branson Airport.

The young private airport is addressing some growing lessons. Because of low numbers, it’s taking away it’s non-stop trips with Milwaukee.

“Milwaukee was one of our target destinations,” Conrad said, “we have 214 people coming in per day, that’s averaged out throughout the year. But with that and the northern Chicago suburbs we thought we’d pull in a little more, but, it didn’t pan out as we liked it to.”

Airline companies do this all the time, especially with new cities added to their routes.

While AirTran is taking away it’s Milwaukee service with Branson, it’s also adding an additional round-trip with Atlanta.

Atlanta is AirTran’s hub. This offers more connecting flights for folks coming from, or going to, Branson; over 50 other destinations including Milwaukee.

Branson Airport’s main goal is to bring travelers in from other cities to the strip. Now, folks from the strip are heading to those cities, selling Branson as “the” travel destination.

“We’ll have long presentation, and showcase some shows,” said Tate Womack, Director of Sales Development at the Jim Stafford Theatre.

Starting July 7th, Branson Airport will have three non-stop destinations; Minneapolis, Dallas, and Atlanta.

AirTran says the airline is pleased to have Branson as a destination, and is seeing great response.
